Why I started and Where I want to go
I enjoy talking about anything and everything. Sometimes conversations are hard to have, especially if they are tough topics. I am learning to follow my gut and delve a little further into my subconscious to figure out why I respond a certain way to a given circumstance. Favorable or unfavorable.
I also know that, to process my thoughts, talking to others is helpful to me. I like to work things out, and it can take some time to understand how someone will react to a particular situation. It also takes time to understand why I might react in a certain situation. Since I am by no means tech savvy, I can now relate to my mother’s struggles as she tried to handle all my newfound information when I was growing up.
But I enjoy learning new things. It’s not something I do easily, so I thought blogging my thoughts and random things I do might inspire someone else’s artistic and creative side.
The Why?
When I finally had the words to attach to my feelings and understanding how the past effects your present. When I learned about perfectionism, I felt relief. All these things I didn’t know about myself and wondered about were finally making sense and I then had some direction as to how I wanted to move forward. It allowed me to figure out what it was that I wanted to present to the world about myself.
The Hopes
I will share stories from challenges I face in perfectionism and parenting, stories I hear, and stories I read about. I will focus on perfectionism as it is a trait that has had a negative affect in my life until recently, and so I am determined to beat the negative connotation that comes with it. The negative feelings that we as perfectionists bring with us.
I will have links to resources that I have used and read, as I learn about ways to navigate through perfectionism and ongoing information about how other perfectionists have pushed through negative self-talk and persevered. While I am at it, throw in some stories that are fun and interesting.
In time, I’d like to become ‘A landing place’ for anyone that just needs some validation on how life happens and how perfectionism does not have to run your life. “OMG! That totally happens to me!” moments, positive and negative. I will have all my tricks to cope, along with my favorite must haves in the home. There are so many great gadgets out there. I am trying so hard to live a clutter free lifestyle, so versatile items are key.
So many beautiful people have posted blogs, DIY projects, and videos, that I have benefited from. I thought, “How can I start conversations about insightful revelations I have, or start those serious conversations that sometimes we are afraid to start, or just be playful and have fun?” As I said before, this seems to be as good a platform as any.
single mom
I’m a single mom and have two grown sons now, and anyone who has kids, or a dog (puppy) knows the challenges it takes to bring them into the world as decent humans. And yes, I know all the awesome stuff too. I am so proud of these two. One is starting a bounce castle business, and the other is a videographer on the slopes.
I grew up on the coast in a remote area, on a floating fishing lodge/restaurant, called Cordero Lodge. It was a family run business that attracted boaters from all over and we were a booming German restaurant for over 30 years. I even got married there. (Sadly, divorced now, so is life)
I was home schooled until the 10th grade. I left for the winter to join the high school realm and started to learn what it was like to really be a teenager. I still went back to the lodge every summer to work, right until I was married a few years later. Since my dad got sick, we had to sell, and it no longer exists as I knew it. The lodge had a huge impact on my life.
I find it interesting how my life there has impacted who I am now. I am a very social person; however, being an only child, young, gullible, naive, I found it a challenge to relate to kids my own age and as I grew into a teenager and young adult. I am fortunate to be able to take this time now and reflect what life means to me and how I want to make a difference moving forward by being as authentic as I can and talking about real situations that happen in life.
I love the beach and just listening to the sounds of the coast. I also realized that the water and ocean are a big part of my life. As the beach brings me memories and staring out into the ocean helps me feel less claustrophobic, I am grateful for where I live, my family, and the opportunities that present themselves to me.
I am quite a self-aware person and would like to explore more about what makes others self-aware and how different experiences make people feel, as well as makes them who they are.
I am here to help, to offer insight, and to offer a different perspective.
I am not a psychologist or therapist. I have taken courses in self improvement and coaching; I have read many books; I have been to seminars and motivational speakers. I have worked in the tourism industry; I have worked with young people, and I am a mom. I have a bubbly personality. Some like it; some don’t. We all have a purpose, and we are all unique. We just need to believe it.
I also find myself having an artistic side and love to do crazy and outlandish things when inspired. Some are a major flop, some are fantastic, so why not keep a record of it and share with all of you. I have recently taken on gardening and really trying to respect our environment. Live and learn I say.
next steps
I bought a house. Thought I would just flip it, however, life happened, so, I have decided to stay in it and have the house as a home base with good roots. It needed work though, still does, and from the beginning to now it has taken a new transformation. I am learning to enjoy the process of renovations although, even though I don’t always like doing them on my own anymore.
I built with help, a legal suite and after my dad passed, my mom moved in and lives in her own space right beside me. How lucky is that?
REFLECT
As I am able now to take the time to reflect, who I am and what my purpose is. I am continuously thinking and asking myself, what do I still need to work on? Tons!!!
I am learning to have acceptance, take criticism or feedback, which is not an easy thing, and stay positive. Go figure. Perfectionism is real, so, lets work on not being perfect, being OK with it, and then celebrating it.
I think smiling every day and being enthusiastic about the world can make change. So many people have tons to contribute, and wouldn’t it be great if we could just talk about those contributions? Plus, all good things that happen. If I reached just one person and I was able to build a relationship with just one person, and it impacted their life, then I think I will have done something amazing.
I am learning about how social media works and what blogging can be and not so fast I might add, so bear with me as I move forward in this digital world.
Stay real, let’s keep the conversations going.
Always try, be consistent and never give up 🙂
"Never give up on something, You can't go a day without thinking about."
