Hello world!

Welcome to mine! I’m Kellie and this is Kellies quay. This is my first post and I haven’t even figured out WordPress yet. I am currently sitting on the beach and staring out into the ocean and listening to sounds of the coast. Truly my happy happy place. I really havent figured out how I want to go about this but thought if I kept track of my thinking on here it would be a great way to share my experiences.

Now, my initial idea is to start a blog a with a possibility of it to have some growth. Financially. I’m not a techy by any means so i now know how my mom felt. I do like to learn tho. Not something i do easily so thought blogging, hmmm what is it? I read them…what a great way to help me figure out my kids.

I’m a single mom of 2 teen boys and anyone who has kids or a dog…know the challenges. And yes i know all the awesome stuff too. Yes I did put my kids and a dog in the same sentence.

We own a house, well the bank owns it I pay for it…lol…And we notice the cost of living going up so expenses are high. I’m working and finding solutions but they suck up so much time. My mom lives in a legal suite next to us and it’s been a blessing. However, we are trying to look in the next chapter. My mom is 31 years older and she is moving into another phase of her life. Married for 52 years before dad passing, she is now learning how to be independent single, senior. My mom is so sweet. She is writing about our life on a resort and how her and dad came to spending 35 years of their life on a floating lodge on the inside passage.

I find it interesting how my life there has impacted who I am now. I also realized that the water and ocean are a big part of my life. As this beach brings me memories, I am fortunate to be able to take this time now and reflect what life means to me and how I want to make a difference by just being me.

I just listened to a CBC radio show about a doctor Brian Goldmen who just wrote a book about “The power of Kindness. Why empathy is Essential in Everyday Life” Here’s the link to the book (ok i want this in a Chat bubble but dont know how to do it.)( I haven’t read it yet but will.)

There has been times in my life where I’ve had people think and say to me (And not always directly) that I’m superficial. I used to be embarrassed by that and it wasn’t until my early forties that I decided to live my life a certain way. That’s what I hope to share.

I believe in trying to smile all the time. Yet when I am at home I can let stress get in the way. Trying to find strategies to help find focus, solutions, truth, present and acceptance. Life has it’s truth for everyone and stories can be relatable but not the same.

Strategy 1 for me,

Go to the beach and take an hour. Hour and a half if I can.

What are some of your strategies to distress? If you don’t have any but want some, this might turn out to be a great place to find new ways to de stress. I’ll have links to help guide you If you’re stuck where to look. If you don’t care that’s cool also. I’m learning too. If you don’t find anything fun about hanging out with me, that’s cool too.
